A Tradition of Excellence . . .

Saint Genevieve School has a long history of excellence. Accredited by the Middle States Commission on Elementary School in 1988, the school was reaccredited in 1998. The Project Protocol was selected and the focus of the study centered on student writing. In 2001 and 2006, Saint Genevieve School was identified as a National Blue Ribbon School.

In response to the number of clusterings or closings of Catholic schools in the surrounding towns, and with a strong desire to insure a future for Saint Genevieve School, the administration and staff chose the Renewing the Vision Protocol as the Middle States Reaccreditation option. This strategic planning approach brought together a steering committee of administration, faculty, parents, former students, and community leaders.

In October 2007, the Middle States Visiting Committee arrived at Saint Genevieve School to tour the school, meet the Administration, Faculty, Staff and students, and evaluate progress toward the goals of the Renewing the Vision strategic plan.

The MSA Committee commends the school for its

-- loving and caring environment

-- strategic planning to ensure a promising future

-- evidence of Catholic Identity

-- incorporating the needs of the parish and the development of the young child into the design for future planning

-- addressing the likelihood of lay leadership

-- acknowledging the quality of teaching the faculty provides for all students

-- recognizing the need for financial augmentation for the teaching staff in their pursuit of excellence in education

-- recognize the needs to maintain the kindergarten enrollment recognizing that the academic success of their current students and graduates

-- insight into the importance of a hands-on approach to science.

seeking ways to secure revenue for school operations

-- identifying the need for major building improvements and taking the proper action

and recommends that Saint Genevieve School continues to work on striving for excellence.
